Millions were spent, possibly billions, on how to dismantle the 99% protests and once again the tiny one pub village Nimbin showed the way. In fact our local Undacuva initiatives have been nominated for TOY, Tactics Of the Year, again. It was so simple you probably wont get it.

Unda James Price Point

The first blockade is a sandfly dustbowl thirty k’s into the middle of nowhere. Hippy drug free protest camps I know well from other jobs so I hitch on to the “move on order” camp near the beach. The hash opens doors like a skeleton key and I can soon sort out who’s who and what’s going on.

The Dalai came to me in a dream saying if he had to come back again he wanted to be reborn on a hippy commune. “Like the ones you’ve been telling me about. In a forest community in that huge land of yours with so few people”, he said. “Rough times are approaching, find me an appropriate hippy earth mother who likes meditating.” Why is he always laughing and happy I kept thinking, even as he was asking me.

Hoodies Down Unda

The Unda Brass, drinking vodka in the airport lounge and dressed like fat rich tourists from Florida, were waiting for me when I flew in from Washington, and we have agreed to disagree. I’d been asleep for 8 deep hours thanks to the LA Dispensary lollies and they took me by surprise, but we soon undastood each other. I know too much and so do they. I get to keep the fortnightly cheques (which Pipe claims as the Tribes now!) but they leave me alone in exchange for “certain favors”. Like where the good weed is, and any new big movers. Little chance of that in the land of unorganised crime I said but that’s just what fascinates them.

The near naked girls fled into the bush and back towards the camp and their children. I scarcely moved as three big black ants poured out of the chopper and down the rope. “You must come now”, was all the first man said. I knew better than to argue.

UNDA Settles in with the Pipe Tribe

Not sure who’s idea it was but having an Undacuva bucks party on the Byron bus tour to Nimbin was as dumb as it gets. And then for one of them to belt the pub manager, who I know really well, even he doesn’t know me. Why didn’t they ask me about my favorite village which I know like my own backyard? Stupid bureaucratic processes that ignore history.

Unda lost in the forest

The acacias are ringbarked for a hundred metres around the feral hippy camp I’ve been enjoying myself in for the last month. From this eagles nest mountain retreat they are first to see the choppers, but don’t notice their kids chewing the wattle bark.
